The two-week BWF Superseries Autumn European swing will conclude in Paris, as the French Open takes place this week. Men’s double world no.1, Team VICTOR superstars Lee Yong Dae and Yoo Yeon Seong have just completed another Superseries hat-trick in Tokyo, Seoul, and Odense, and it just looks like they are not going to stop anytime soon.
In their half of the draw, only two teams have recorded wins against them this year. China’s Zhang Nan/Fu Haifeng, seeded third this week, edged out Lee/Yoo for the title at the Chinese Taipei Open G.P. Gold in July, but never won another game in their latest three encounters. VICTOR Malaysian duo Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong contributed to an important men’s doubles point with a win over Lee and Yoo in the group rounds of the Sudirman Cup, but then got revenged when the they met again in the quarterfinals. What plays to another Lee and Yoo’s advantage is the fact that the two teams fall in the same quarter.

So, perhaps Indonesia’s world no.2 Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, or World Champions Ko Sung Hyun, who showed tremendous form coming off the mixed doubles title at the Denmark Open, and Shin Baek Choel, can have an answer. These two teams are the last two teams to beat Lee and Yoo in a Superseries event. However, not until the finals will they expect another chance against the top pair.
Now, the odds are stacked heavily on Lee and Yoo’s side for a record four in a row at Superseries level.
Mixed doubles defending champions Liliyana Natsir and Tontowi Ahmad also return as the second seeds while looking to take just their first Superseries win of the season. They’ve come in second twice so far in 2015 with a lone victory at the Badminton Asia Championships.
